We go driving round France most years, take the ferry over from Dover and take in places like St Malo, Pornic, Nantes, etc, love it. I can’t comment on EV driving (mines a petrol), but one thing to watch for if you’re driving in cities is their low emissions zones. You’ll need a sticker to drive and park in these areas, which you can order online before you go -

The other thing is be careful with any speed camera software, they really don’t like that (zones are ok though).

Anything that detects speed traps or cameras is illegal in France. Turn off any overlays on Satnav etc, no using Waze or anything else for that matter. I won't share with you how the wife of a friend of mine made a small old fashioned radar detector disappear once....

Hefty fine if you get caught.

If you dont want to get done at the last Peage before Calais like every other speeding brit then there is a trick below. There is usually a queue of brits waiting to be processed here for speeding and I have known people miss a ferry or shuttle because of this.

The trick is simple. Coming from Paris to Calais. Tank it to St Omer South. Exit Autoroute. Re-join autoroute at St Omer north (not far) and get a new ticket. Drive like a nun to the last Peage. Simples. Has saved me a few thousand € over the years.

        Stick to the speed limit?

Mind you, last two times I've driven on the Autoroutes, I've received a speeding fine later in the post.

Not had one in the post. A mate of mine who has an English registered vehicle and a German registered vehicle, has had french speeding tickets sent to the German address but has never had a french ticket for his Porsche which is registered near Manchester sent to that address he ususally risks it.

My car is Swiss registered. So in the UK I can do what Johnny English did in Switzerland.

Having just got back from Leipzig I noticed that Germany & Holland are putting in ev charging on the main services, I changed my route so no longer go via France so can’t comment on their provisions

I've driven on UK plates in France many times. Never had any issues. If you've a co-driver to handle visibility in the passenger seat, there's really no issue. In a few weeks, I'm driving to the UK in my left-hand drive car.
                  so many questions

why do you have a left hand drive car

why's it not in the UK
