A Conservative minister has said he hopes his former colleague Michelle Mone “sees sense” and does not return to the Lords after Mone admitted she lied in denying involvement with a company that held UK government PPE deals during the Covid pandemic.

The comments by Lord Callanan, the energy efficiency minister, heap further pressure on Mone, who had repeatedly denied a connection to PPE Medpro, which made millions of pounds in profits during the pandemic.

Sunak says he and government taking allegations about Michelle Mone and PPE contracts 'incredibly seriously'

Rishi Sunak has said that he takes the allegations about Michelle Mone, a Tory peer, and PPE contracts “incredibly seriously” – but that because of the National Crime Agency investigation he cannot comment further.

Speaking to the media on a visit to Scotland, Sunak was asked for his response to Lady Mone’s admission yesterday that she lied about her involvement in the firm PPE Medpro. He replied:
The government takes these things incredibly seriously, which is why we’re pursuing legal action against the company concerned in these matters.

That’s how seriously I take it and the government takes it.

But it is also subject to an ongoing criminal investigation. And because of that, there’s not much further that I can add.

Michelle Mone is an almost perfect construct of Tory Britain.

She was never a succesful business women (in the sense of running a business which made money). She was recruited by David cameron specifically to lie on TV in 2014, claiming she would move herself, her business and all its 'jobs' out of Scotland in the event of a 'yes' vote in the referendum. Amazingly, given the number of journalists (both TV and print) who witnessed and reported on these events, not ONE thought of asking what business and jobs she owned in Scotland. The answer, of course, would have been 'none'.

She did what she did in return for her peerage, and it gave her a better standard of influential people to flash her jugs at in return for favours.

UK tories should be putting posters of her on their walls. She's exactly the type of person the UK political system loves (unless they get caught, then they become a pariah).

Personally, I think she should do a long jail sentance, and so should those that enable people like her.

Apart from they didn’t just lie to the press…

            - Their involvement should have appeared on the register of members interests
            - Barrowman should have appeared as at least a PSC at companies house (he took dividends from the company)

Add 'if you vote Yes, then you'll be out of the EU, and the HS2 link to Edinburgh will likely be scrapped' to the list of things that ended up happening anyway.

Apparently Mone was threatening journalists with emails she wrote herself or by a lawyer who was struck off on 2011.

Like I said, everyone’s popping up now saying they’ve been threatened with letters by Mone, or one of her solicitors who in turn are having the spotlight turned on them for having a lying client.

Everything these two done is shrouded in fog. If it's taken this long to get to the bottom of the ownership of the PPE scandal and then the yacht I can only imagine the rest of their lives is lived with equal levels of fog. Who own's the house, their spends, jewellery, cars etc. I expect the yacht is just the tip of the iceberg.
