Damn, feels like I get the shaft then. I went onto a fixed in anticipation of further rises, and I have solar panels I paid a lot for that save the grid lots of power, no doubt I won't get any benefit from the government because I won't be able to reduce my energy usage any further
I think we all just got shafted in one way or another, TBH.
Chunt - “The Treasury will review how energy bills are supported beyond April. Hunt says the objective is to design a new approach that will “cost the taxpayers significantly less than planned while ensuring support for those most in need”. Support for businesses “most affected” will also be put in place.”

Good bye British economy, nice knowing ya…
That part made sense, actually.
Tbf, a lot of it made sense, even if we end up paying through the nose. The original budget was thick-as-mince, like the Gove monkey said, a holiday from reality.
Now that the "fiscal statement" aka mini-budget has been erased, should we delete this thread and start again?
Just watched the full statement from before, everything Liz based her leadership platform on has now been removed. She's now following Rishi's playbook.
- went from 20 odd yrs contracting to permie after Brexit / Corbyn threat / IR35 concerns
- now back contracting (semi-retired) and outside 35
- was looking fwd to few more years of o/s 35 work
- thinking...there'll no longer be a tsunami of permies leaving for contracting in the spring so supply of specialists will be limited ergo day rates and IR35 determinations still favourable?*
Either way I'll never vote Tory again. Like Danny the Fink says in the Times, 'they'll still be talking about this in 20 yrs'.
*edited to add - just realised that the future's the same as it was 3 weeks ago. Maybe I should be forced to retire. Thanks for reading sorry for wooly thinking!
Perhaps they'll up the annual pensions contribution limit? (As a I believe was hinted at by KK.)
