All this virtue signalling about speed limits.....
We "could" just train drivers properly and increase their skills and awareness.
Let's not forget here, speed in itself does not kill. Yes, it may be a factor in the outcome of an accident but generally (mechanical failure aside), it is bad driving (be it down to ability, lack of hazard awareness / concentration / the inappropriate use of speed etc) that generally cause's accidents NOT speed alone.
The lack of driving standards these days is shocking. You may disagree but it's long been my belief that modern cars tend to "disconnect" the driver too much from the road to the extent that most cars these days seem to have as much involvement with driving as a PlayStation (actually a PS probably gives more feedback). I'm convinced this causes many drivers to be detached from the fact that they are "in control" of a large (increasingly heavy) metal projectile.
Stupidly low blanket speed limits will never be the answer.
