    Hosepipe Bans

    First Southern Water - https://www.hampshirelive.news/news/...ht-hit-7396130

Southampton, Winchester and Isle of Wight hit with hosepipe ban after 'driest year for a century'

And apparently Thames Water, my local water leak company are planning one.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/co...aks-every-day/

According to the report, Thames Water, which serves 15 million households across Greater London, Luton, and Surrey, lost the highest daily volume of water to leaks – 635m litres a day in 2021 – though the figure was 8m below Ofwat’s threshold.

My parents are in the Southern Water region but in West Sussex so they're ok for a while.

I'd better water the garden before Thames Water go the same way.

My little pond has an automatic top up system, gets all the overflow from my water butts, but getting lower. Hope it rains before it affects my little froggies. Like looking at all their little heads poking out of the water when the sun shines on it. You wouldn't think frogs like sunbathing, but they do.

No thanks. What a daft idea from the "ban everything Britain" mentality.

It does remind one how varied the UK climate is though. Since the 40C day, I'm pretty sure we've had rain every single day. Including a lot of very heavy showers and prolonged heavy rain - struggled to find dry weather windows to mow the lawn!

Could you send some of your rain this way, the garden is bone dry and hasn't had more than an hour of rain in the last 2 months.

d000hg it's because they are tulip as well as being destructive.

Have you ever tried using one? They are tulip.
Beaches and other places where they are happy for you to BBQ have proper ones set up so you can use it if you turn up with fuel. Unfortunately use them in places where they shouldn't be using them e.g. https://forums.contractoruk.com/gene...baby-burn.html

Used them plenty of times, going back 30 years I reckon. In fact a handy trick is to put one or two of them in your proper BBQ - less time spent cleaning up.
I suppose you'd like campers and caravanners and sailing types to lug a BBQ around with them? Portable ones are great for that sort of thing as they stack and store neatly... very nice to have a BBQ on a deserted island as the sun sets with your yacht anchored nearby.
