I can take taxi at other end but I would not be wishing to leave an expensive cycle on the railway station platform in the event of villiauns and stealers operating in the area. It is my opinion that it would be better to take it with me.Originally posted by d000hg View PostDoes the bike need to come with you on the train for when you get there?Comment

Depends on the station, many have dedicated bike stores.

My station is Gobowen but I cannot believe that in this counytry it is not possible to pick up your telephone and get some informations from your local station on matters such as this. The last time I have tried this I had to spoke with somebody in India to ask questions concerning a train in Wales. In India I'm telling you, it is crazy.Originally posted by d000hg View PostDepends on the station, many have dedicated bike stores.Last edited by Baddish; 1 July 2022, 13:33.Comment

As WTFH said, this information is available online. See:Originally posted by Baddish View PostI am considering the possibility of buying electric 2 wheeler as my business is sometimes taking me to Birmingham and the railway station is located 3 miles from my house. I would need something easily portable as platform is very low so I would not be wanting anything too heavy as I have to lift it quite a ways. I understand it is possible to travel with a folding bike on the trains with no restriction or booking requirements.
National Rail Enquiries -
Folding bikes are carried free of charge and without restriction on all services, subject only to the additional requirements for specific services set out below:- c2c and Stansted Express - folding bikes should be transported in a protective carrying case.
- East Midlands Railway, South Western Railway & LNER - carried free of charge provided they can be stowed as luggage.
- London Overground - carried free of charge, up to a limit of one per vestibule area at peak times.
In your case, Gobowen to Birmingham New Street would be Transport for Wales, so there are no extra restrictions. The most compact folding bike I've seen is a Brompton, and they have an electric version, but that increases the weight (and cost), e.g. the electric C line has a mass of 14.6 kg. How heavy is "too heavy" will be a question for you.Comment

If it's a busy line, get ready for being pretty unpopular.Originally posted by MaryPoppinsI'd still not breastfeed a naziOriginally posted by vetranUrine is quite nourishingComment

I understand that some stations are equipped with the harrington lump which aids access to the carriage so if this Gobowen ihas this then the weight is not so important in my opinion.Comment
