How does WFH reduce reliance on Russian oil and gas?

Is domestic energy supplied by something else?

Yes there will be a small increase at energy used at home, but any idea how people get to work and how much energy is wasted heating/cooling office buildings?

Hard to say on that. I would assume that a single large office block would use less energy per person than a number of houses but then there's less travel usage. I presume they might have done their sums before coming out with the idea.

          PS Tho. probably not.

I think the visual of empty tanked petrol stations is something they want to avoid.

If you remove travel costs people won't suffer so much from rising energy costs.

Not sure they are ready for falling shop takings (neither are we).

I assume that they're mainly thinking about petrol/diesel for transport.

Working from home may mean that Starbucks, etc have a reduction in takings, but people still need to buy food to eat - whether it's from the shop near their office or the shop near their home.

I saw Branson on the news yesterday backing a plan to reduce the speed limits as another easy way to reduce oil use.

^Not sure that would make much difference. Like a lot of people I'm driving slower and more economically recently and it's only reduced consumption from 61 to 65 MPG.
