The question to ask is, how many political donors are non-doms, and how do MPs benefit from these donors?

Rishi is not a non-dom, yet his 'financial donor' is

I'm guessing the premier league may lose some of their star footballers too. May impact the music world too, although I believe Tom Jones is now back here but not sure about the Rolling Stone or Cliff Richard

Is it true that he had a green card for the US while being chancellor?

i.e. he owes them tax on all his worldwide earnings.

I don't especially like the whole concept that UK gov gets to tax your income from another country, to be honest. They've done nothing towards the work, they haven't contributed to you getting to be rich in the first place (schools and the like).

I wonder if there are many/any non-doms whose home country actually charges MORE tax, and yet go the non-dom route purely on principle to prevent HMRC getting their sticky fingers on it?

But you are living here, enjoying the benefits of our police, roads, army and all the rest of it. Should someone who lives here but derives all of their money from overseas not have to contribute at all? What's to stop you shipping all of your "hard earned" (inherited) money overseas to stop it being taxed further? (answer: nothing, of course - the rich do this already). Maybe worth mentioning that she didn't earn any of this disputed money in the first place, of course, and does no work for the dividends.

Not surprisingly the moralists at Labour have their snouts in that trough too.

                https://www.express.co.uk/showbiz/tv...micile-tax-GMB

"Emily Thornberry, your party, the Labour Party has benefited hugely from the wealth from non-doms of people in the UK," Ray began.

"Lord Noon, nicknamed the 'Curry King' donated nearly £1million for Labour but gave up his non-dom status when he joined the House of Lords.

"Sir Ronald Cohen, an Egyptian-born businessman gave £2.5million in donations to Labour.

"Cohen was appointed chair of the Social Investment Task Force, so you might not even be here if it wasn't for their millions, it's kept your party going."

The question should be as she is financially linked to a UK resident and dependants can she be none domicile?

In a divorce her world wide wealth would be considered surely that is key?

Just because she plans to come back home in the future to care for her parents is completely irrelevant - just because somebody plans to retire in Spain or Portugal does not give them right to avoid taxes only because they hold some other citizenship.

Some people say it's legal, it's the letter of the law, blah blah - they are missing pretty obvious thing here: she CLEARLY MADE UK her permanent home and thus her claim of non-dom status is invalid in the first place, so she is due to pay all taxes with interest and penalties. PLUS - those who checked her tax returns (if at all!) should be very well investigated - fired in any case but if there is evidence they had undue influence to approve tax return then prosecuted to the fullest extend the law permits.

Even more - who and why picked Rishi for his safe Tory seat in the first place? It's an obvious banana republic corruption

Not sure it matters how she got the money, irrelevant if she earns it or it's passive income.
