If you want to abuse children, you first need to be able to get unquestionable access to them. So either you are related to them or in a position of trust. Either way it helps to be married with children yourself unless you can't for religious reasons.

I imagine he was just treating the kid as he would a young bear cub. If it had been the latter, surely nobody would claim he was into bestiality!

Something else to consider is that powerful people love to pose publicly next to powerless people like kids, as it accentuates the contrast and shows their humanity at the same time. (Admittedly that applies equally to Joe Biden)

Vladimir Putin has told Emmanuel Macron that he wants to "seize the whole of Ukraine" during a call between the two presidents.

"The expectation of the president is that the worst is to come, given what President Putin told him," a senior aide to the French leader told reporters on condition of anonymity.

"There was nothing in what President Putin told us that should reassure us. He showed great determination to continue the operation," the aide continued.

Elsewhere, Russian airstrikes on two schools in the Ukrainian city of Chernihiv have killed nine people and left four others injured, local authorities have said.

Vyacheslav Chaus, Chernihiv's governor, said in a post on Telegram there were no military facilities near the blast, only hospitals, schools, kindergartens and dozens of high-rise buildings.
