Will Boris eat his cake and still have it?

He'll bugger off quickly enough once he is no longer PM. He's toxic to the Tories, not that that will bother him in the slightest - the reason he'll leave is that he will no longer have the prospect of becoming PM, so there'll be nothing in it for him other than a meagre MP's salary. Hopefully he will struggle to find employment anywhere else, but no doubt he'll be able to fill his boots on the after dinner circuit once he's spent a few years "reflecting". -
They've said they are categorically, definitely going ahead with it in the papers. So that's a good sign they will do a U-turn shortlyOriginally posted by SueEllen View PostThe papers are blaming Sunak for the NI rise..

He's primarily a journalist and a writer. He isn't going to disappear other than from politics.Originally posted by mattster View Post

Well the report is out.
They were very naughty boys and girls who drank too much at work.
But I can't publish anything else thanks to a Ms Dick."You’re just a bad memory who doesn’t know when to go away" JRComment

Only takes a couple of minutes to read, even if you go the extra mile and read the bits saying "This page intentionally blank"

"The excessive consumption of alcohol is not appropriate in a professional workplace at any time" - on the contrary, I've been in quite a few professional workplaces where it would have improved matters tremendously, or at least made them bearable

Indeed. Two threads to this, that some meetings should not have been allowed to take place or evolve as they did, and there are no clear management or informal reporting lines across the No 10 estate, which has grown organically in recent years. Four of the in scope meetings are not of interest to the police, it seems.Originally posted by SueEllen View PostLessons must be learnt!!!

What I didn't see was any reference to the PM or any other politician, responsibility seems to be pointing towards the civil service. Which is interesting but obviously we will have to wait for Dame Dick to report her findings, which, it seems, will be based on the email responses to emailed questions to 70 people who were at one or more of the "events" in question and who may in time receive a polite request for 100 notes...
I agree that the look of the thing is utterly unacceptable and Bojo's responses less than satisfying (to say the least), but the events themselves are still trivial.Blog? What blog...?
