What about obesity, maybe we need a cut off date for that too, that'll make things spicy.

Not sure if booze or sugar is currently regarded as the bigger threat in the west, though obviously booze contributes to obesity as well as all its other bad effects.

This is a rather interesting intervention / experiment. It'll be good to see how successful it turns out to be.

As a non-smoker it's quite easy for me to be in favour of this - nasty dirty habit and all that. But if it were booze I'd be up in arms about "you have no right". Although telling me "you can have booze but nobody currently under 18/16/etc will be allowed to when they get older" might blur the argument. Easier to decide what's best for other people

Yes, the 18th Ammendment worked so well for the Mafia and Joe Kennedy back in the day, not to mention the overwhelming success of the Septic inspired "war on drugs".

Then again NZ is in the middle of nowhere so maybe it might work.

You need to watch the NZ Border Patrol thing.

The tons of tulipe incoming from Asia is quite inspiring if you're a meth addict.

hmrc could factor in weight into people's tax calculations. The fatter you are the more you pay. That'll make us eat less crap.
