I was talking about British-born people without regard to race.
As far as immigrants go there's a vast difference between different groups - compare Chinese or Indian* immigrants with Afro-Carribean or Somalian.
In the same way you can compare the British upper-middle and working classes - an alien from outer space would say these groups had nothing at all in common, apart from the colour of their skin.

*As vetran says, grammar schools are full of these around his way.

There are four factors at play here in the changing demography:

      1. Baseline native UK population still resident in UK
      2. Aging UK population
      3. Emigrants from UK
      4. Immigrants to UK

See if you can get an immigrant or emigrant to work out the rest for you.

I don't know why I should do an internet search for a troll who conned someone out of their money but this is for everyone else who is too damn lazy to look things up themselves - linky

I've never conned anyone out of any money.

I think you're the lazy one though. To make a statement such as the one you made without backing it up with a reference, at the very least , is just sloppy.

Sockies that become tiresome will be retired with extreme prejudice, without notice.

(Sorry, doesn't apply to CretinWatcher, because adoption of a new account is not sockiness)

But it seems May is thinking of re-introducing Grammar schools.

Personally I think this is a good idea. But not a priority at the moment.
It's a bad idea, because the same arguments that led to their abolition in the first place would simply come back, and be a rod for Labour to use to beat the Tories (literally, in a future election, as well as metaphorically).

Wouldn't it be better to simply have more effective streaming in comprehensive schools, even different school sites under the same school name?

That would be sort of disguised selection at the school level, rather than blatant and irrevocable selection at the school type level, which is what so many found objectionable about the old system.

Certainly I went to a Grammar which went Comprehensive. And I spent some time assisting the "remedials". It worked well for me - and hopefully for them.

The remedials had no trouble finding work. Some did very well - I remember one made a fortune in the scrap metal business.

The brightest had no trouble too.

It was those who needed 5 O levels to get into a bank. And got 3. They had the trouble.

I suppose some of them became agents.....
