'Hard Brexit' is 'no Brexit' for Britain - Tusk
In his speech, Mr Tusk mocked a Brexit campaign promise that Britons could "have the EU cake and eat it too" - the idea that the UK might manage to keep trade benefits of EU membership while barring European immigrants and rejecting EU courts' authority.
"To all who believe in it, I propose a simple experiment. Buy a cake, eat it, and see if it is still there on the plate."

Fair enough the EU is only pointing out the reality of the situation.Originally posted by scooterscot View Post
So the last hope of the Remainers dies and the full British Brexit is on.

So today we saw the reality of the falling pound and what will happen if tariffs are used.
Profits of company with Euro as currency start to fall due to falling pound. Company tries to increase prices to accommodate. Company fails.
Repeat for all companies that manufacture and supply to uk but report in Euros. Who is losing?Comment

Economically ignorant Remnants would do well to read this.
It's quite straight forward. Enough even for the most stupid Remnant to understand.Comment

Interestingly the ones who wail the most about the lack of manufacturing in the UK are also the most vociferous remoaners (you know who you are)Originally posted by GB9 View PostEconomically ignorant Remnants would do well to read this.

Indeed. They moan about trade imbalance but when something starts to rectify it they moan about that too.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View PostInterestingly the ones who wail the most about the lack of manufacturing in the UK are also the most vociferous remoaners (you know who you are)

..would have been nice if the Leave side actually mentioned the need for some pain to achieve economic re-balancing, rather than the nonsense of having cake and eating it.Originally posted by GB9 View PostEconomically ignorant Remnants would do well to read this.

There is no political will in the Nation for the pain required to achieve this kind of re-balancing. Already the siren calls of 'Nobody told me if would be like this' are starting to be heard. I wish Ms May and her 12 seat majority lots of luck trying to navigate a mega inflation and job losses in order to 're-balance' the economy.Comment
