    Your remaining choices are:

    1) American - spilt more human blood than any other nation, no signs they'll change.
    2) Russian - you'd have been bagged and shot in the head long ago for with your so called free speech.
    3) African - scant democracy, constant conflicts, crime, amok with corruption, dismal standard of living
    4) Asian - you think you're low paid? You've no idea.
    5) Australian - still to develop a culture

Pick one and don't call yourself European again is fine with me.

You are forgetting the obvious other choice,

      6) British and dependent upon nobody else.

I'm proud to have never called myself European. It is also possible to like and respect the people of other countries without having to be controlled by them or conform to their beliefs.

There's a fair argument to say there is a massive amount of brinkmanship on both sides. All of a sudden the EU might change tact and give the UK a chance to reconsider. But they certainly aren't going about it the right way at present.

Nationhood is nothing more than an accident of birth. Imagine if you'd been born Syrian or Iraqi.

            Why bind to some acreage?

            Why bind to a Monarch?

Did you read up on The Peace of Westfalia and how it defined nationhood? And did you ingest it and think it doesn't really fit how the World works and co-exists now?

I don't expect you to agree, but I do think you all need to read more.

Rightly or wrongly we are still divided into nations which are governed by elected or unelected bodies, dependent upon where we are. We either act as a single instance i.e. the World, or we stay as we are. If you people want to apportion us on a geographical basis then why don't we join up with Australia and New Zealand. I argue that they are the countries with whom we share the closest beliefs.

Is drawing up a list of people in your company who come from those 'other' european countries what you call respect?

Since when did Britain become a continent?

A small part of me believes you're being serious.

Why should they? We threw the first punch.
