Staying in the EU doesn't mean the same as now. It means we will yield more and more power to Brussels/Berlin. We're heading to a European superstate if we remain, not staying as things are now. Do Bremainers not listen to things that don't suit their case? #BREMAINDEADThe greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn't existComment

Yeah I think DC will just fall on his sword and walk away. He won't be able to do anything other than that. As will Osborn... and it will be then interesting to see what the rest of the Tories do....
If they lose their working majority then its going to have to be another general election. A minority government is one thing, a minority government with a leader who hasn't been through a general election is unthinkable.Comment

Originally posted by Old Greg View PostPresumably one likely outcome is a Scottish referendum leading to independence and the potential subsequent annexation of Berwick. Then Wales will follow but with an English annexation of Monmouthshire. Scotland and Wales will join the EU, Schengen and the Eurozone leaving England + NI to either sign up to an agreement where they pay the EU and accept free movement of individuals in return to access to the free market, or bravely sail into freedom with customs and passport controls throughout these fair isles."Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience". I wasn't suggesting he would do this out of spite; that's the position favoured by the Brexiters, but simply that having received his instruction from the British people he can use that fact to ward off any criticism. After all it was not his decision.
He wouldn't get chance anyway. I think the day after the vote there will be a vote of no confidence if he doesn't immediately resign.Comment

Unfortunately, hell will probably freeze over before that happens.

To do it responsibly means waiting for the conditions to be right, or not too bad, and that could take years and years especially if it depends on negotiating alternate trade deals. I don't think that's what the people want. People wanting a stop to immigration want it today. I suggest if it's not immediate, if there's not a hard deadline set, then everything will drift and may even never happen especially if we get a change of government in 2020.
If we wait you never know the EU might grow up and negotiate a settlement that makes us want to stay.
If not its longer for us to set up trade agreements.Always forgive your enemies; nothing annoys them so much.Comment
