Then he can shrug and say "that's what you wanted".
Fortunately for the people, politicians, even DC, are not completely childish, petty little children. Also, we have a parliament that needs to approve the passage of laws.

Staying in the EU doesn't mean the same as now. It means we will yield more and more power to Brussels/Berlin. We're heading to a European superstate if we remain, not staying as things are now. Do Bremainers not listen to things that don't suit their case? #BREMAINDEAD

Yeah I think DC will just fall on his sword and walk away. He won't be able to do anything other than that. As will Osborn... and it will be then interesting to see what the rest of the Tories do....

If they lose their working majority then its going to have to be another general election. A minority government is one thing, a minority government with a leader who hasn't been through a general election is unthinkable.

It's not petty or childish to honour the wishes of the people. I wasn't suggesting he would do this out of spite; that's the position favoured by the Brexiters, but simply that having received his instruction from the British people he can use that fact to ward off any criticism. After all it was not his decision.

In the future people from England may have to pay to enter Scotland. Or pay to leave;-)

Immediately pulling the trigger is no good for no one. Not even the people who voted out. It would only be childish to do so.

He wouldn't get chance anyway. I think the day after the vote there will be a vote of no confidence if he doesn't immediately resign.

I don't think that would be such a bad thing. Brexit will not be a time for party politics. Everyone needs representation in the exit planning. The ConLib coalition may have been dysfunctional at times, but the more lunatic ideas of both parties were constrained. We need grown up discussions, not point scoring.

Unfortunately, hell will probably freeze over before that happens.

How are Brexiters going to react if a year after the Brexit vote the process hasn't even started yet? To do it responsibly means waiting for the conditions to be right, or not too bad, and that could take years and years especially if it depends on negotiating alternate trade deals. I don't think that's what the people want. People wanting a stop to immigration want it today. I suggest if it's not immediate, if there's not a hard deadline set, then everything will drift and may even never happen especially if we get a change of government in 2020.

we pay for it anyway so it should cost us less.

If you go for pay to leave you will make more.

Well we know it isn't getting worse.

If we wait you never know the EU might grow up and negotiate a settlement that makes us want to stay.

If not its longer for us to set up trade agreements.
