I think following us exiting there is a chance of the EU falling apart anyway... There might not be anything to pull a trigger on....

According to the Outies it is getting worse every day.

If we wait you never know the EU might grow up and negotiate a settlement that makes us want to stay.
The option on the ballot paper is "Leave" not "let's wait and see" or "lets form a committee to look into the possibility of leaving at the appropriate juncture". It's important people understand that. Voting to leave because you think it means we get to stay is really dumb.

2 years ought to be enough time to have another referendum if something significant changed; probably only immigration caps would be enough for that to happen. Having a hard deadline is likely to be the only way to get some progress; the EU isn't going to cave in on anything if after 5 years the UK still dillying and dallying about Brexit.
Will work inside IR35. Or for food.

Parliament can grant power to Brussels or retract that power again as it sees fit, because it is sovereign. So, I hope that helps alleviate your Project Fear (TM) mindset.

          Out is out...

But its sensible and grown up to realise that Out is going to take a long time and be an involved process and tulip might change on route....

I think there is a possibility of a second referendum, or a referendum via general election over the coming years though.... We don't know how the EU react or if its just simply going to eat itself after we vote out...

Unfortunately, hell will probably freeze over before that happens.

In the event of a Brexit vote there may be a need for a National Government to deal with the growing crisis.

Why bother with a full on IN/OUT referendum then, wasting millions upon millions of taxpayer money rather than simply and clearly explain what ongoing membership of Europe means?

The UK Parliament can repeal any law that it has made, thus any attempt to create a EU superstate could only include the UK if the UK Parliament consented, and the UK Parliament could subsequently withdraw its consent.

The veto is about he direction of the EU, not about whether the UK chooses to participate in the direction of the EU.
