Lead X Limited / Hays IT

    Hi,

Im a bit of a newbie (this is my first post) so please excuse if I dont know the customs on here.

Ive been offered a 3 month contract with a decent rate through Hays IT, its exactly what I want to be doing skills and experience wise, my only concern is that Im not too sure about how reputable the end client are. I was wondering what your feelings would be in my position if youre not 100% sure of the ethics of the company?

    Thanks

Never heard of the Co concerned, but have worked through Hays IT.
I don't worry too much about the end client, but the agency (Hays IT) is one of the biggest & solid/reliable too, imho. If Hays are happy to deal with them then I wouldn't have too many concerns. Hays do pay weekly via their portal, and never failed me once.

Please clarify what you mean by 'ethics of the company'?

Get B&C or Qdos to negotiate a better contract than the rubbish one Hays uses.

Just make sure you do nothing illegal while you're working (a default position for most of us, but you never know).

      And check payment dates.

(If you don't like ClientCo's ethics, don't work for them).

        Hi,

        Thanks for your replies.

Im not too worried about Hays paying - Im sure they are reputable, Im just concerned about the co themselves - a quick google of them reveals murky business like cold calling and lead trading (not 100% sure what that really involves).

Obviously the IT work I'll actually be doing is legal and legit (netowrk infrastructure stuff) its just my reputation and morals Im bothered about e.g. when I explain to my family who Im working for etc.

        Any advice gratefully recieved!

Need to forget the morals bit if you can; you're a contractor, and the client (whoever they are) are supporting your business venture by asking you to provide your services to them on a short term basis.
Maybe get a few more contracts under your belt before getting all 'selective' - money is money, and the market aint great; bird in the hand etc etc...
Unless of course you have a substantial w/chest which means you don't actually need to be working? I know what I'd do.
