NB: You arent working for the client, you are working for an agency.

If anyone asks what I do, I say Im an IT contractor. If they ask what my current contract is, I'll say desktop support (crawling under desks like Roy in the IT crowd) or clearing offices of bankrupt firms, etc etc.

What the client co does, who they employ, whether they like to dress up at weekends, etc etc, is irrelevant. Nobody expects a contractor to be intimately involved with the client. The only time you have to explain and justify your company is if they have a terrible rep for how they treat employees and you're a permie manager for instance. Then that is the only time it reflects badly on you.

Im a bit of a newbie (this is my first post) so please excuse if I dont know the customs on here.

Ive been offered a 3 month contract with a decent rate through Hays IT, its exactly what I want to be doing skills and experience wise, my only concern is that Im not too sure about how reputable the end client are. I was wondering what your feelings would be in my position if youre not 100% sure of the ethics of the company?

          Thanks
They are not a very big company so I think I would be more worried about their credit rating (unless the Hays contract will pay you regardless) than their morals, but each to his own.
