Im not too worried about Hays paying - Im sure they are reputable, Im just concerned about LeadX themselves - a quick google of them reveals murky business like cold calling and lead trading (not 100% sure what that really involves).
Obviously the IT work I'll actually be doing is legal and legit (netowrk infrastructure stuff) its just my reputation and morals Im bothered about e.g. when I explain to my family who Im working for etc.
Any advice gratefully recieved!
1. Are they supplying Weapons to countries that are on the export ban list?
2. Are they providing Banking services to International War Criminals that have been tried and convicted?
3. Are they providing any from of legitimate services to countries that are on the official export ban list?
If you answer yes to any of these questions, then you have to ask yourself if you believe in morals.
If your company is the best place to work in, for a mere £500 p/d, you can advertise here.

The only things that worry us are when we get paid and that we don't do anything illegal.
That's it.
We're not the holder of your ethics and morals - I repeat if you don't like them don't work for them.
(oh and thanks, btw - I'm sure that someone with grubbier morals than yours has already tapped them up for your job )

Ive been offered a 3 month contract with a decent rate through Hays IT, its exactly what I want to be doing skills and experience wise, my only concern is that Im not too sure about how reputable the end client are. I was wondering what your feelings would be in my position if youre not 100% sure of the ethics of the company?
Ethics of the company?
By **company name** are you referring to the advertising agency near altrincham? I havent worked for them but know someone who has, legit business.

Ha ha ha ha ha hilarious statement!
Hays IT have one of the worst reps among agents. I cant say how I really feel about them because then I would be using inappropriate language, but suffice to say, you are better off speaking to a nigerian banker about the millions that you are owed because you are a descendant of an ape.
Hays are notorious for screwing contractors around and generally wasting your time. You'll be lucky if this role even materialises!
By the way, if you dont have your limited company and use an umbrella, I would recommend Gabem as Ive used them before (Hays will only let you use their list of umbrellas).

You arent the one doing cold calling.
Even if you were, it is the owner of the business that bears the moral conflicts of such a business.
No offense, but get over it and you will soon learn that all businesses act in what you consider "shady! way. List any company and instantly one could list "shady" operating practices. Cold calling is a way of life, tough luck. Numerous companies lead trade, look at insurers!
How else do you expect companies to get new business unless they have a staff member called Sooty? You cant jus magic custom out of thin air. You have to explore avenues and promote your business until you become a large corporation who doesnt care if they lose custom as they have such a massive market share. The ethics of corporations are far more shady than limited companies!

Reason: Voluntary edited the company name out, even though it is already cached on google.
