Err.. I think that's me out to be honest. Can't think of a tactful way of explaining why I don't want to bunk up with some geeky permie 9-5:30 every day for the next 6 months.

The annoying thing is I had a choice of 2 & I chose the one closer to home just because....

    Pair programming... run... run fast...

TBH it's about time Agile and all this associated rubbish was banned, worst thing to happen to software engineering since.. errrmm ever...

Unfortunately there's too many "scrum masters" out there making a living from this tulip <modsnip>

What happened to the sort of contract where you used to go in and be given a blank canvas? You'd do all the requirements analysis, come up with some sort of design, implement it and after 3 months everyone was happy & you'd get extended for phase 2?

            Maybe you should humour them.

Pairing rarely continues long term especially if they don't have an agile coach.

When I used to work in support I had 1 contract where they would not allow any flexibility. I offered to do every early shift or every late shift in an attempt to avoid the traffic (up to 1.5/2 hours each way some days) but the line manager, who was very anti contractors wouldn't have it. 'No you are a contractor you need to be here at 9am and until 5.30pm. So that's what I did. I'd arrive at 7.30 or 8 and sit in my car in their car park reading the paper until 9am came round and then I'd turn in. He also (wrongly) assumed that none of his staff needed to be on the Christmas rota because we have contractors and they can do it. I left soon after mainly because he was a <modsnip>

Rule Number 1 - Assuming that you have a valid contract in place always try to get your poo onto your timesheet, provided that the timesheet is valid for your current contract and covers the period of time that you are billing for.

              I preferred version 1!
