    Boomed!

...just 1 day on the bench & I'm back on a proper day rate again.

Couldn't have come at a more opportune moment.

Bit of a commute (Gloucester) but I'll break it up with a couple of nights B&B.

Also will get to keep my sc & they sound reasonable and do flexible hours...

Glad I got the boot now.

I reckon if it had been me that pulled the trigger those clowns would have made me do my 2 weeks notice.

So, email, yes - couldn't bear the thought of another call of shame
Sod that. Whereas its nice to have a WFH facility when you're not 100% if Im sick and really ill then client can do one if they have a problem with me not working at all.

You obviously didn't help the situation with 2 days off sick, in the first two weeks, however.

Suck it up, hopefully get your monies due and move on.
Why? tulip happens. If you're ill you're ill. If a client had an issue with ONE sickie I would not be happy.

Although did work with one guy who had 4 sickies in first three weeks. Now this is a bit much.

And........... then you go and say the complete opposite to your previous statement

I suggested it wouldn't have helped, rightfully or wrongfully and I stand by that.
Anyway in totality, if you read everything, it seems to be a whole chocolate box worth of factors.

It doesn't help. If you're unavailable 20% of the time in your first fortnight, then you're immediately on the back foot.

Absolutely this. It's unfortunate and yes can't be avoided but it can be a game changer to the client. Nothing you can do about.

In this case, everyone around me had it including the bonehead of a dev manager. He had 2 days off too.

Another gem came from the agent at Hays - you shouldn't cycle to work as it puts you at risk of these kinds of infections and hence in a position where you will inconvenience the client. He was being serious.

There's more but I really want to forget the whole sorry affair and move on...

                  .
Sadly that is because you don't understand customers.

Rather than standing with the coughing masses on the buses, underground trains of London, metrolinks of Manchester and so on? Yep, it's definitely those cold-virus laden car fumes that are going to make your nose run. Does he have Velcro shoes?
