RBS, Lloyds & several other investment banks are all or have recently made massive cutbacks in their UK IT headcounts.....from the numbers I know of its something like 20,000 IT Staff! That's going to have a massive negative effect on anyone's ability to get an IT job due to supply & demand factors alone...if there are any viable well paying IT jobs to begin with!

Since I retired (2 weeks ago), I've been casting an eye on the market for what I do/did (Dev, DevOps, etc) and tbh, the market looks increasingly good! As an exercise, I'm going to see if I can get a bite (weather still not good enough to get me out on the golf course)!Originally posted by uk contractor View PostRBS, Lloyds & several other investment banks are all or have recently made massive cutbacks in their UK IT headcounts.....from the numbers I know of its something like 20,000 IT Staff! It's very retail / hospitality focused, which is to be expected as those are the industries most sensitive to NMW and NI increases.Originally posted by gables View Post
Is it? or maybe I'm reading it incorrectly:
Matey boy said about recruitment\redundancies.....
one in four (25%) employers are planning to make redundancies in the three months to March 2025
A third (32%) of employers plan to reduce the number of employees through redundancies and/or recruiting fewer workers - which is it 25% or 32%
Sixty-four per cent of employers plan to recruit in the next three months - and yet he focuses on those not recruiting
Oh well.
It feels to me like a very click bait headlineComment

Has anyone ever landed a role with TCS?
I find them very odd. Usually low rates, usually technical roles but never seem to get pass the interview stages.
Wondering whether they just like wasting people's time as they have internal candiates?Comment

Not sure what they are like now. Last time I had dealings with them was over 15 years ago. Didn't have a good name back then. Never worked for them myself but they had a big presence with client I was with for 4 years. Don't hear of them much nowadays.Originally posted by SchumiStars View PostHas anyone ever landed a role with TCS?

Strep: Contract sector seems to be non existent. Maybe a bit of life in the permanent market but having to reintroduce myself with the concept of Covering Letters and suspect if you salary expectation doesn't match the exact figure in their head you are out of the running before it starts.Comment

Worked with them on one project about 15 years ago at a FTSE100 firm. They were OK.Originally posted by SchumiStars View PostHas anyone ever landed a role with TCS?

My last gig at an insurance company outsourced most of the BAU work to TCS. There were dozens of their staff in the office and in all the time I was there I never saw one of them who wasn't Indian.Comment

I'm seeing quite a few contracts and have been approached by a few agents on LinkedIn. The problem is they are absolute f***ing timewasters. "Can we have a chat?"...."Sure, here's my number.......". **** all. I can only assume they are Gen Z workshy ****witts.Originally posted by SussexSeagull View PostStrep: Contract sector seems to be non existent.
