Still finding it very quiet locally.

I can probably manage to see the summer out without burning too much of the reserves, but if it's still dead round here then I'll have to consider working away (which is a depressing concept).

Is it me becoming an increasingly grumpy old man or are agents becoming worse at doing the actual basic tasks of being a recruitment agent?

I had a phone interview on Friday which went well, so much so that the guy told me he wanted to bring me in for a face to face. Finishing quite late I didn't try and get hold of the agent and thought i would wait until Monday. Hear nothing from them so I send an e-mail

Recruitment agents standards are getting lower than ever! Its not attracting experienced people so often which is reflected in the level of service they provide!!

It was quiet even for London last week. I got zero calls compared to the week before where I was averaging a couple of calls a day however it was School holidays last week which is probably the reason why.

Hopefully it will pick up this week or next.

Been looking for a month. Started quite briskly and got through two phone interviews. One contract hot pulled and the other has gone quiet, presumed dead.

Been quite quiet the last couple of weeks but these things have a habit of turning round quickly.

I’ve only had, by complete luck a 3 month contract in the last year.
Whilst my work in IT is relatively rare I was getting 4-5 phone calls a day from recruiters two years ago.
Since I’ve been working in these management roles for the last 5 years I’m not even getting a sniff at the old technical roles I used to do.

I’m not sure if it’s brexit or maybe IR35 has flooded the private sector but I’m just about done now and can’t pay bills. I also think there are more people doing my specific role as well.

To be honest getting phone calls and landing an actual gig are 2 different things. just because you were getting more calls then doesn't mean you would've gotten any more work then you would now. Some might argue the case of higher probability, but its not a case of counting balls in a jar. There is no relationship between excited middle-folk ringing up every body on the block and the work itself. also there are tons of factors involved, for e.g: if you haven't kept your skills upto date then in terms of the I.T. industry you are a dinosaur. 3 calendar months = 1 IT Year.

Heading back to the bench soon at the end of the month but end client might want me to stay for longer, Market isn't very fluid at the moment in the SC cleared sector but there are jobs around but not long term contracts which I'm looking for.

One thing I noticed is however a lot of agencies are switching to advertising permie roles with the big IT providers instead of pimping out contracts, I already last week had quite a few phone calls regarding permanent positions, has anyone else seen/heard about this as well?

                      Interesting.

Could you please let us know the area do you specialise in ? I guess devOps which is booming big time.

Thinking of switching to it but find it a bit boring.
