Without lawyer fees and Civil Servants, you won't get WTO. Britain is only a member of WTO by virtue of being in the EU, so membership will have to be negotiated, and it requires consensus from the WTO members.Down with racism. Long live miscegenation! -
Turned down a rather attractive permie job in Basel so the missus can get some traction on the Brexit/WTO/whatever lawyers gravy train.Originally posted by NotAllThere View PostWithout lawyer fees and Civil Servants, you won't get WTO. Brexit strategy is to sell off assets in the UK, keeping only one property as a base, while making the most of Brexit, then sailing off into the sunset with the loot.
Thanks, Brexiters
Hard Brexit now!

Let's be honest, even the most Senior Janitorial post that might happen your way is going to offer chump change by comparison with what any lawyer can earn. Can't you just get her to pay you to carry her bag?Originally posted by sasguru View PostTurned down a rather attractive permie job in Basel so the missus can get some traction on the Brexit/WTO/whatever lawyers gravy train.

You don't think that some countries might hold the process up to gain concessions ?Originally posted by DodgyAgent View Postas if the UK will not be allowed in

Why UK could be doomed to years without proper access to world trade
The UK is going to be forced to do an awful lot of grovelling to get itself WTO membership. There is no reason for WTO members to give the UK an easy ride – quite the opposite, in fact. As part of the EU, the UK demanded a pound of flesh from African, Caribbean and Pacific countries in the recent Economic Partnership Agreements; these countries may now seek payback.
Then there are late WTO joiners such as China and Russia who were required to make far greater concessions than existing members; they too may now seek to extract additional concessions from the UK in return. Desperate to cement its position in the WTO and no longer able to rely on the combined power of the EU, the UK lacks significant bargaining leverage.
I'm alright JackComment

At one stroke, Brexit has turned the UK into a smallish (less than 4% of world GDP, much of that from foreign companies), aging (immigrants brought down the average age and bred faster), bankrupt (debt is more expensive as gilt yields rise) economy.Originally posted by DodgyAgent View Postreally? . I think countries that export to the UK will simply look elsewhere
