David Gauke Worked For Tax Avoidance Firm - Guy Fawkes' blog
Nearly as morally repugnant as a complete reversal of your stance on an issue, the effect of which will be to bankrupt many people.

        Gauke Backlash

Oh dear, DG appears to be taking a bit of a caning not just on social media sites like Twitter but also in the mainstream press:

As David Gauke's cash-in-hand outburst shows, politicians should really keep their mouths shut about morality – Telegraph Blogs

        Pity, that.

"There's plenty of money to bail out everyone. But the problem is not primarily one country against another. It is the rich net savers and tax avoiders in each country against the rest of us. The core problem is one of inequality which is driving worldwide public and private sector debt."

The above comment was in the BBC news item re Spain's likely impending substantial bailout requirement.

So, rich tax avoiders are now also largely responsible for the entire euro-zone crisis too.

It just shows how easy it is to whip up a frenzy and then those targeted are responsible for all evils in the world.

Shows how effective the politics of envy are.

Well, it was the bankers last week - perhaps they've been let off the hook now?

BTW: Has anyone managed to find an example of anyone else who has been clamped down on retrospectively in all this?

quote from telegraph, I quite like woodlice:

people take very badly to moral lessons from a group of people whose morals they generally regard as on a par with weasels and woodlice.

So, it was the bankers responsible for the crisis, now its the rich avoiding tax, I wonder if they will ever have the balls to berate the pretty big proportion of people who are sponging off the welfare state cause they dont want to work? Before anyone says it, yes of course there are people who cant actually work for medical, disability reasons etc, they are excluded from my example but they are a tiny fraction of people claiming benefits and Im sure would really rather not!

People that dont actually want to work and claiming benefits are contributing precisely zero to the private purse, and in fact are the people draining it? We all know the answer, they know but are too sh*t scared to upset the great unwashed electorate.

They never learn do they - whenever politicians start handing down moral judgments from on high, then it is usually the precursor to a spledid own goal. It is the cue for some investigative journalism to expose their own immorality, hypocrisy and dodgy dealings. So we now already know of Gauke's hypocrisy and complete lack of integrity (compounded of course by his marital partner's choice of work in tax avoidance). What else will float to the surface of the Westminster cesspit?

I wonder how long it will be before Cameron/Osborne realise what a liability they have here and redeploy Gauke to perhaps the Westminster Library Commitee? One can but hope.

                      Keep up the good work

Made another contribution, once agin thanks to all the people in the background for getting us where we are.

Its been a bit of a roller coaster the last few months but if we keep pluging away I am sure in the end we will win this.
