The point is how low HMRC have now s(t)unk. Seriously, heads should roll for this within HMRC plus, Government must now finally get a grip of these bellwhiffs who think they can make tax 'legislation' on the hoof or whim.

Dont know but, I dont understand why people seem in a hurry to hear from that bunch of leeches. No news is good news imho.

Same thoughts from me, does anyone have concrete info about next step from HMRC. If they intend to push us into bankruptcy in the near future then plans need to be made. In the past they always seem to hit us with surprises, we need to move away from this so that we are not always having to react to their actions.

Same thoughts from me, does anyone have concrete info about next step from HMRC. If they intend to push us into bankruptcy in the near future then plans need to be made. In the past they always seem to hit us with surprises, we need to move away from this so that we are not always having to react to their actions.

The next step is for HMRC to take cases to tribunal in the tax courts to hear the appeals of our Closure Notices.

No cases have been listed yet so this must be some way off especially if, as has been reported, there is a backlog in the tax courts.

I wouldn't like to speculate as to when this will happen but I can't see it being any time soon.

What can we expect to achieve at the tax courts?

What defence can we use and, do they have the power to cancel the collection of the tax?

Does proving that HMRC misled government and that they knew about (and did nothing for 7 years) the scheme constitute reason for the courts to dismiss the collection of tax?

As far as I know, the tax courts will only interpret the law (S58) as it stands.

One of the grounds cited on our appeals was that S58 doesn't apply but I don't know the ins and outs of this.

I guess we'll find out nearer the time whenever that is.
