Let's all see what happens & draw some useful parallels with our own cause.

Well spotted Ninja. Looks like 'retrospectivity' is creeping into everything now.

        Tax 'negotiable'

Ok, not entirely appropriate but the last sentence seems all too apt:

        Tax ‘negotiable’

Would be funny if it wasn't true!

Had a response from my MP - he can't make it nor can his staff, but he remains on side and would welcome further evidence being sent to him so he can hound the treasury about it. Scanned copy of letter sent to Whitehouse.

              NAO Meeting

Didn't the team have a meeting with the National Audit Office? Did we get an update and I missed it?

We still need a few more responses to the Survey.

Hello all. This thread just keeps running and running and I've not kept up. Last time I checked in, you had that group lobbying on your behalf and were getting people to send letters/visit their MPs.

Has anything changed since - I guess that would be sometime in the summer? Is there a potted summary anyone can share for those who don't follow the thread?

                      • The lobbying company Whitehouse are still fully engaged
                      • We've also engaged the law firm DLA Piper to initiate a formal complaint against HMRC, with the intention of taking this to the Parliamentary Ombudsman
                      • Last week NTRT met with the National Audit Office, who have agreed to consider putting our concerns about HMRC's conduct to the Public Accounts Committee
                      • We have got a briefing event lined up in Parliament for 8th Jan, sponsored by a Tory, LibDem and Labour MP. People have been writing to their MPs to encourage them to attend, and we have already got a good number of acceptances.
                      • Senior officials of the Treasury have agreed to meet with NTRT, and this is being organised for next month.
                      • We are carrying out an impact assessment survey of our members to present to MPs on the 8th, and for our meeting with Treasury officials. This will also be presented to the PAC and Treasury select committee.
