Some very heartrending stories. HMRC/Govt should be deeply ashamed of what they have done. Especially when ministers, including the Chancellor, have been "home flipping" etc. to avoid tax.

Mine will be on its way by the end of the day. But like many others, I wanted to say a thanks for all your efforts. This forum has kept me sane through some bleak moments. It was the one glimmer of hope, especially seeing as MontP were not exactly too forthcoming with detail. Without the drive and organisation you put into this, a lot of us would be in much deeper a darker place. Cheers, mate.

Reading these makes be both very sad and extremely angry. s58 is going to do untold damage to many people's lives, and the punishment is way out of proportion with any alleged wrongdoing.

I am sure many criminals get off lighter than the sentence that has been meted out to us.

Without DR (& Brillo) a lot of people would have sunk into dark depression. He deserves a medal for this work!

On a good note, I had a reply from Jeremy Corbyn who has written to the JCHR on my behalf.

So thats a little bit more pressure on them to do something.

Lets start an avalanche of letters to our MPs requesting a review and details of personal circumstances to DR. Anyone who is just contemplating doing this, please dont put it off, do it now.

Just wanted to stress I'm not going soft. When we all chip in to say thanks to DR, I'll be wanting a receipt so I can claim the tax back. That way, Hector can chip in too! Can't leave him out not, he's more of a regular on this forum than we are.

We have already got enough letters to MPs. The Clerk of the Committee asked if people would stop sending them, as they have been inundated.

The document I'm compiling is all they need now to trigger a review.

Incidentally, I didn't mention this before but the JCHR is unconcerned about the impending JRs. They had a similar situation last year (retrospective migrant worker legislation) where they carried out an inquiry despite there being a JR in the pipeline.

I was worried that they may shy away from scrutinising s58 because of potential subjudicy, but apparently this has no bearing on their criteria. If anything, impending legal action is a further indication that something has gone wrong.
