Oh come on, the guy's a loon of the highest order. Don't have to pay tax because he lives on Shetland? More like HMRC realised that, in fact, he doesn't have to submit SA returns every year and have cancelled the penalties on that basis.Originally posted by Toocan View PostWe could all move to Shetland (North of Scotland) where, it would appear, HMRC have no authority to collect tax.
This is worth reading:

HMRC appear to accept that if you live on Shetland you DO NOT have to pay tax!

I for one really don't want our professional, legally sound tax planning to be associated in any way with a nutter like that.Comment

Didn't DR request to get this info under FOI and didn't get a great response i.e info wasn't retained?Originally posted by robinhood View PostReceived a letter from MP indicating that the Tax Company had collated a lot of info from HRMC under the freedom of information act and now awaiting the hearing date re JR Application

Yes, I received the letter too. It says exactly what the OP has stated, along with stating that their bank is now using the "faster payment" system to make payments under 10k to people quicker. The letter was dated 9th March so everyone should receive it soon I would think.Originally posted by ContractIn View PostAssume you are referring to MontP? Not quite true. We got some useful info, which was passed to MontP. MontP also got the terms of the Suo Motu settlement from us.Originally posted by ContractIn View PostAssume you are referring to MontP? Following consultation with WG, we challenged the "brush off" with a snotty letter and are awaiting HMRC's response.
Further FOI requests are in the pipeline. We are determined to prise as much as we can out of the buggers.
If nothing else, at least we are keeping Mr B occupied.
