Pity we can't have a second poll - "should poppy have an affair with his sister-in-law". Maybe I should start a new thread?

I can't wait for the andyw option......

Wont happen I'm afraid. Since I'm not Borat, it would have to involve some level of agreement from my sister-in-law.

shall we get back on track??? Apologies DR for this minor distraction. but it did start with a question about SC clearance

          Distraint Notices

Some people have received these, typically a few days after the closure notices.

I have checked with MP, and HMRC have sent them out by mistake.

If you receive one, contact MP and they will sort it out with your tax office.

DR...can you please describe exactly what a Distraint Notice is?

I'm guessing its HMRC going totally OTT...and the fact that they've admitted issuing them in error will not help their case at all...

You will need to look at the person involved. It may follow that our mistakes and delays may affect certain people more seriously than others. Examples may include elderly customers, people who have been recently bereaved or people that are unwell.

In other words HMRC has to have made one of their regular mistakes and you have to fit into one of the above categories. Nothing available for anyone else it would seem.

You have a better chance of claiming expenses. Unfortunately, that does not cover a claim for time where you act as your own Counsel. Loaded again. They've already taken 6 years to get to where we are now, how long to make a successful claim?

This is David v Goliath and its one in the eye for those that cast the first stone.

I wonder if they will backdate BN66 to the year 1215 as well
