    great work

Amazing achievement for NTRT team to get us to this point where we have a strong argument and viable funding to take on HMRC. If we win and there is money left over I'd quite happily vote for it to be distributed amongst those who have put themselves out so much.

On a related topic is there a timeline for when the first and subsequent appeals to the FTT will be made? My own application and CNs was delivered Tuesday but I still haven't had an acknowledgement. I realise of course that this is probably due to the volume being received.

Are we meant to have any of the latter ?

my latest year 07/08 seems to be in that state
A year suspended on appeal means they've issued a Closure Notice, or Assessment, and you've appealed & requested postponement of payment.

Where an enquiry is still open, they haven't issued a CN or assessment.

Quite a few people still seem to have open enquiries, which I can only assume is an oversight by HMRC.

First batch for the FTT is currently being prepared by CCW.

oh ... so should i have an APN for a year with an 'open enquitry?' im guessing perhaps not ......

and how long do they have to issue the stuff to stop it being open ? and how does discovery fit into the scenario ?

also .... really dumb question but i asume interst still accrues on 'suspeneded' payments

            from an HMRC doc

It is estimated that accelerated payment notices relating to existing avoidance cases currently under dispute will be issued to approximately 33,000 individual taxpayers concerning £5.1 billion of tax under dispute under this measure and the Autumn Statement 2013 measure applying accelerated payments to follower cases.
Estimates of the distributional impacts of these measures are affected by the use of avoidance schemes that deflate the income reported on self-assessment returns. Having noted this caveat, analysis shows that the population of individuals affected:
            have a mean gross income of £262,000, compared to £29,000 for the wider income tax paying population;

who are they kidding ... wish i could get a contract paying over 250k !!!!

About 30 people were told in late August they had 90 days to pay a total of around £29 million of disputed tax up front under the new accelerated payments regime

it'll be this lot sceweing the average big style ... but i guess it makes better press headlines

Lies damn lies and statistics. A very few high earners distort the arithmetic mean. A far more sensible measure would have been the median income but then that would have ruined their headline.

                  HMRC lying? Surely not.

Just had a call from a company purporting to run tender/ procurement boards, offering to help make sure i get sight of the correct tenders as they are published. They then wanted to go into details of how I operate as a company, I asked for a mail and a meeting time later on and they've disappeared.

What do we think? coincidence? one for the private forum when up and running?

Apols, probably of topic, but just in case.

Any risk in going to FTT?

I'm sure this is covered somewhere but I can't find it

I am fortunate that I was only in the scheme for a year, but am happy to pay the £900 to help fund FTT

However, is there any risk in doing so? I've got a bit lost in some of the detail about this !

                      thanks
