You can only appeal to the FTT for years where there is a CN, in your case 2008.

Did HMRC open enquiries for all the other years?

As far as I can tell, I've had no enquiry or closure notice for tax year 2006 and 2007. And just one enquiry for 2008 which then had a closure notice for 2008 (not sure if the date is valid) with a calculation sheet including data for 2006-2008.
      Get professional advice.

If MTM cannot help you, go to a tax professional.

This should be easy stuff for any qualified person and I would not expect it to take a long time or produce a massive fee.

I am just confuse which one to join? Is NTRT applies to all schemes? Also what is the time frame of joining as I have a few friends who are on the same boat.

        Many thanks
Big Group is across all schemes, although I would expect its involvement with NTRT to be little more than interested observer and perhaps source of advice if requested.

I would expect BIG GROUP to learn from the lessons of NTRT and to use the principles argued in Court in due course if these can be applied elsewhere.

BIG GROUP is recruiting pretty much NOW.

NTRT - I think others are much better qualified than I to discuss.

If you were part of the scheme that used the DTA = join NTRT.

If you were part of a scheme that used other methods = join the provider group and BIG GROUP.

If you were part of both = join both.

If you used the DTA scheme, provided by Montpelier/deGraaf/Steed, up to 2008, then you should consider joining NTRT and applying for TAA.

It will cost £300 to join NTRT and another £900 for TAA to pay for all the legal fees.

I searched through all correspondence this weekend and I've got proper enquiries for 05-08 (mentioning TMA 1970 etc), a non-enquiry letter asking for cash for 03 and nothing for 04 that I can find.

What I don't understand is what happens to the years that I can't appeal!

                1) you could request CNs from HMRC for all years (in theory HMRC should check that they opened a valid enquiry before issuing CNs for 03 and 04)

                OR

                2) you could just go with the 2008 CN at the moment and then request closure of the other years further down the line

Thanks for everyone's support - the response has been incredible!

Just a gentle reminder in response to quite a number of emails we have been receiving - we won't be activating private forum logons until all paperwork has been received by CCW.

Please don't worry though as a) no members have access yet and b) there won't be much to read yet!

                      Thanks
