If you can't locate them, just provide anything from HMRC which details your liability for each tax year.

You could even pull it off HMRC on-line as a stop gap.

Sorry, another question on documents to forward; What constitutes a Closure Notice from them twats?

Is it headed Closure Notice or something else?

Apologies if this is mentioned somewhere in previous threads but I cant stomach looking through 2 threads of over 170 pages on the off chance it is!

I think we can all bank on 2 outcomes

1. HMRC negotiate a settlement
2. HMRC find some way to screw us

I don't expect this would even go to a FTT. HMRC could never risk losing in court a decision like this. It would be devastating for them.

It's in everyone's interest (HMRC and Us) to get settlement negotiations underway now and stop giving hundreds of thousands of pounds to lawyers.

How we all agree on an acceptable number is the tough one! A lot of people would be happy for pre 2008 interest to be taken off, but others will stop at nothing but zero.

F**K THAT!!! They've caused this and I will be happy with nothing less than zero or an FTT decision!!!!! Its poker ALL IN time...

Rifled through all the documentation over the years - what exactly are closure notices (dumb question?). I have received so many depressing and threatening letters about and have a large folder of documents. Is it a stack of documents with

"Information about our check on your Self Assessment Tax Return - year ended 5 April 200X"?

I have four sets of this with assumed calculations and a large amount I allegedly owe - is this the stack I need to send to CCW? I can't find anything that says 'Closure Notice'

Mine say in bold type at the top

"Notice of Assessment for Year...The enclosed calculation forms part of this notice..." OR
"Information about our check of your SE Tax Return - year ended ...is a closure notice issued under Section 28A(1)..."

At first I was looking for something that said in bold 'Closure Notice' but never found it. Devil is in the details.
