No To Retro Tax - Ongoing battle against S58 FA2008

One of our guys did follow up with individual emails to these people but he got very few responses.

Around 460 have either already signed up for TAA or are waiting for us to re-open the application process. So, it is a relatively small number of active members who have decided not to pursue it.
Would there be any point in joining TAA if you have already paid an APN?

Yes. An APN only determines where the money is held while you and HMRC fight over whether the money is actually owed or not.

TAA is another argument that its not actually owed...

        +1

And especially if you are a de graff user. At least Montpelier are still fighting - and doing a damned good job. The only reason that Montpelier won't win is because of a conspiracy against them. If the conspiracy prevails then TAA will provide another front to fight on.

HMRC think all contractors are tax avoiders. First they came after us - now its everyone eles turn. The whining has now started.

          MP JR

For those of us not party to the insider-only NTRT forum (or in the unlikely alternative I'm really the first person on both places to get this) - I received an MP circular today saying they've filed papers for JR. They'll follow up with individuals who are elligible for joining it.

Thank you Nervous. This is exactly the type of information that should be available to everyone.

Who should make it available to everyone? Please be specific.

Information such as this should be openly available to all NTRT members not just those who have paid £900. Some of us were unable to join the insider-only NTRT forum for specific reasons.

                  1. This is the NTRT forum. The other forum is for TAA members.
                  2. You could have joined. Hopefully you will get a chance to join when membership re-opens.
                  3. NTRT is run by volunteers. At one point I was part of the steering group. In fact for quite a while it was DR and I against all comers . I could not stand the pace.
                  4. I am sure the information will be in the next NTRT newsletter. NTRT agree to keep giving updates by newsletter - not via this forum.
                  5. Most of the NTRT funds went on Whitehouse. For all the good it did us. The only thing that works is f4j tactics.

Having said all that, I feel incredibly sorry for you.

Just an idea. Are there any montpelier members not receiving the montpelier letters? Do montpelier have you new address?

I think you will find that the MP he refers to is Montpelier who ran the scheme he used, you said you were a De Graaf scheme user so there's not a lot of reason that Montpelier would know you exist, let alone write to you.

From what I gather communications between people who used these schemes are being coordinated by the groups and not being broadcast on public forums, this is to try to keep the strategies confidential or at least trickier for HMRC to access.
If you want to be involved and updated you really need to be in the groups.
