Yeah, I don't VM at all. I only need Office and I've got 2011.

Now i want more memory for running a VM that has windows doing it's thing. My client wont accept Macs, but will take a windows based VM (odd, i know!). Plus from a compatibility world, having easy close access to Windows, Office 2010, MS Project & Visio, really does make life easier.
I didn't say it was your ******* fault, I said I was blaming you!

I use a MBP with 8GB running a Win7 VM via Parallels 7 as my Visual Studio 2010/SQL Server/Graphics development platform.

Runs absolutely perfectly, no different to a native Windows machine. Thats allocating 2.5GB and 2 cores to Windows (a VM requires less memory than a native install would). The host OSX also runs beautifully when the VM is active.

              wow:

              Number of Processors: 1
              Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
              L3 Cache: 3 MB
              Memory: 16 GB
BIG difference... Parallels is running v smooth with 4gb allocated to Win 7. Dont realise it is running to be fair, general system responsiveness is spot on!

                BTDT, got the T shirt.

Except I bought the memory on a Saturday afternoon so had to wait until the Monday to acquire the small screwdriver.

Let us know, I never thought of upgrading my MacBook but as it only has 2Gb this could be a big win. What generation/spec is yours?

Also - how do I tell if my MacBook is running 32/64 bit? Did OSX become 64bit only when they switched to Intel?

How to tell if you’re running the 32 bit or 64 bit kernel in Mac OS X Snow Leopard

Is Mac OS X Lion 64-bit only? How can I get it to run in 32-bit mode?
