Can anyone recommend a home station that can be linked to from PC <NOT mobile phone app> and has no mains power reqs???

They have a filter for how you will view the data.
The one we have is the older model of this:

It has its own display (which requires plugging in)
While it also has an app, and you've said no to apps, it also has the ability to link to wunderground so you can view the data from that website.
Not sure if any of that is of any use, but maybe it's a start.…Maybe we ain’t that young anymore -

I think Lidl(tm) do one now & again, though I dunno weather or not it uses an ap, most of this stuff seems to these days, which is really convenient if you haven't got a suitable batphone.

cheers, but, as usual everything needs an 'app' which means no PC connection, unless you signup to some 'weather community'.
