I heard the lift going earlier, so an engineer must have been! No idea if they've managed to fix it, mind. Nobody seems to have used it since, but a lot of people use the stairs anyway most of the time, so it isn't unusual to only hear it a couple of times a day.
Cloudy but much less windy than yesterday. The sun is due to make more of an appearance this afternoon. Currently 19 degrees with a high of 21 expected. Barometer up to 1028 mBar.
Sunrise 08:10; Sunset 18:26
We had a lovely day yesterday; mooched about the town, bought swimming costumes. Then headed back there in the evening for a fantastic dinner.
Have had a couple of interesting approaches on Linkedin which I will be properly following up next week.
Morning all
Fog/low cloud was a lot thicker this morning, to the point that the ground was wet, and the best way to use my head torch was carrying it at waist level.
Walk has been walked. The sun is burning off the fog.
Meanwhile on the 20th of December 2019 LM, NF, xogg, & DaveB were contemplating sending Xmas cards, I wasn't so no surprise there, NF was railing against the Xmas shoppers in Sainsburys, whereas I was doing the washing & shopping in Morrisons, all of us Unaware Of What Was Coming. .
Bedding wash ongoing in the WM.
Bedding wash out of the WM and pegged out on the line, after which I couldn't feel my hands.
Walk (unabbreviated) walked in the sunshine. Quite chilly out there in the shade.
Lunch: brunch.
Entertainment: last 15 minutes of a Robert Harris interview: no mention of "The 2nd Sleep". .
Clear sky, peach coloured to the east and with a just-past-full moon still quite high in the west, so probably a sunny day once the sun gets up. Chilly but not frosty at 1°C, only reaching 6° later. The barometers are steady at 1021/1029mB
I watched a new episode of Traffic Cops earlier. This series seems inordinately long; I wonder if they had loads on hold because of delays in the courts, so now they're just going to keep pumping them out until the backlog is cleared
I've also found time for some more playing around with bits of GameplayKit, in particular the Entity-Component stuff. I've reached the point with that where it's suddenly gelled, and as a result I'm finding loads of stuff that seemed as if it would be pretty complicated has become much simpler
And I've read a bit more of Apollo 13 in which they've stirred the tanks as requested, but it doesn't seem to have worked out as planned
My weekdays normally consist of:
Good morning/weather etc
Work
Coffee
Work
Some food
Work
More coffee and work interspersed until 6-7pm
Food
Knackered, possibly with at least half a bottle of wine.
Cloudy and windy. My weather app says 7 mph winds, observation says it's more like a moderate breeze, per the Beaufort scale, and so nearer 13+ mph. Currently 19 degrees with a high of 22 expected. Barometer up to 1025 mBar.
Sunrise 08:10; Sunset 18:25
Gusts at the outdoor section of the breakfast area resulted in a cascade of glasses and cups all being blown off a table. We weren't affected but another couple were quite lucky not to be covered in glass and coffee.
Yesterday we had a lazy day, sitting out in the sunshine, relaxing. We were going to take a stroll into town but will see if it brightens up a bit
Morning all
Foggy out - could hardly see more than 10 metres when out earlier, which made for an interesting walk, particularly after my head torch died, and then the clip on MMtSH's light broke. I knew it was about to go so had ordered a screw carabiner to replace it, which arrived a few minutes ago.
Made it home, my torch is now on charge and his is now mended.
Fog is lifting slightly and I can now see the bottom of our drive.
