    Sparks latest long player, Mad!

Didn't think they could top 'Lawnmower' from A Steady Drip, Drip, Drip, however 'JanSport Backpack' is genius.

They are playing in Wolverhampton in July, tempted to go.

That tune reminds me of one with identical music, can't think what. Some ad about best brown ale?

Woke up this morning with this tune.

    But with English words.

    Oh my little Augustine,
    Oh my little Augustine,
    Everythings gone.
    Our (something) are gone
    All we depend upon.

Strangely I can't find that text online that contains that last line. I learned the song as a child.

Why I should have it in my head now, I have no idea!

    MY FAVOURITE DRESS
by Eddi Reader/ John Douglas/ Simon Dine

Can I put on my favourite dress?
    It’s deep electric blue
Hand it down, I kept it good
    Bet it’s still like new
I’ll put it on and fix my hair
The way we all would do
I want to walk Argyle Street
    Like I used to do
And turn their heads and win respect
See just what I could do.
Felt like I could fly and fill the sky
    And everything was new
    It’s sweetheart neck
    And debut style,
    Deep electric blue.
Daylight hem, just above the knee
Buttons up the front you see,
No one else could make me feel
The way that dress could do..
    ’Til in it’s sleeves
    I fell in love
    We danced the years
    Now he’s gone above
    And I’m all alone
    In this filthy home

I’m gonna put on my favourite dress
    It’s deep electric blue
It buttons up the front you see
    Still fits me too
    I wanna walk Argyle Street
    One more time for you
And turn their heads and win respect like I used to do
That's the bit that got me the most.

Poor old lady stuck in a place like that dreaming of a world long gone 70 years before.

I'm in tears here & I haven't even listened to it.

Time waits for no man & it won't wait for me.

    MY FAVOURITE DRESS
My husband John Douglas had a dream about his aunty Mary, who was living out the last part of her physical life in care and in a state of bewilderment.

He dreamt that she asked for her favourite dress to be brought to her.

I see all the generations before us dancing and falling in love in their favourite clothes.

This song reminds us of how briefly we get to love, laugh and be merry.

So on that Instagram people put up things like "if I say [insert words here], what's the first song that comes to mind?". The most recent phrase was "take me" and that resulted in this song being stuck in my head for the past two days...
