It's an average so it's not the old people dying that makes the difference. It's more young people dying from drugs/alcohol and the Scotts generally being lower down on the Darwin evolution scale than the rest of population of the world.Originally posted by pr1 View Post

I can't think of anything that might have killed off more old people in that sort of timeframe, mystery

Lying on the ground and slithering along like an earthworm would be even safer.

So life expectancy is getting shorter and shorter with retirement age increasing to 68 in a few years and more after that. Not going to be long before you have to expect to die before you retire. Something totally f'd up there.

Why does the Fail call it "Bonkers advice"?
Does it help prevent people falling over? Yes.
Are old people more likely to injure themselves falling over than young? Yes.
Are old people more likely to read the Fail than young? Yes.
So the Fail want its readership to fall over.
Bonkers.

I do wonder how the people of Scotland managed to cope with a cold spell before this incredibly useful advice was provided.
Maybe that's why their lifespan is shorter than the rest of the country?

Life expectancy in Scotland has decreased for the third year in a row, according to official figures.
A National Records of Scotland (NRS) report shows it has dropped by three weeks for men and almost six weeks for women.
The average life expectancy is now 76.5 years for men and 80.7 years for women. The provisional figures are an average for the three-year period 2020-2022.
Life expectancy is lowest for both men and women in Glasgow.

If it walks like a Penguin?

I wonder if we get taxed differently? The NHS is telling people to 'waddle like penguins' to avoid slips and falls amid plunging temperatures.
Walking with your legs apart, a soft knee bend and arms sticking out can reduce the risk of losing balance on the ice, according to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
While admitting it 'might seem silly to walk or waddle like a penguin', the board said 'penguins know best' when it comes to getting around on ice.Tags: None
