Don't they do the stomach too to 'bag' people i.e. the result is a colostomy bag maybe for life. People need to stop buying cocaine, but they'd find something else.

Yes and that's why it was an aim point for Roman soldiers, they were trained to stab not slash, hence the short double edged sword.Originally posted by DoctorStrangelove View PostThe butcher in the then shop at the top of the road had a nasty accident when a boning knife slipped & he cut his femoral artery.
Despite being within 3 miles of A&E he was dead before he got there.
Strangely enough, the wearing of chainmail aprons by the local butchers rocketed for at least 6 months afterwards.
Gosh. That was a mere 43 years ago.

Sounds like the lad did well, I am sure the doctor confirmed that. The Police of course failed to understand.

I'd say the thoracic aorta splits higher up than the pelvis from the MRIs I've worked with. Not sure if it would be common, external or internal iliac you'd stomp on.Originally posted by Gibbon View PostYour aorta splits in your pelvis into the common iliac vessels, they are nearest the surface in your groin and yes they have aortic pressure which is why you can bleed out so fast. They are also where they attach kidney transplants too because of the copious blood supply.Last edited by d000hg; 17 February 2021, 14:23.

Not so. My Uncle was a paramedic ambulance driver and hew said in most RTAs the most common place to take a pulse was the groin as it was usually one of the few areas they can reach quickly.

Maybe it wasn't her aorta he was looking at when he pulled up her skirt.
