I've never had a problem getting recleared. Assuming you're prepared to take the hit and be a permie, I'd go with the AI one. Probably better long term prospects. I'm not sure I could go back to being a permie now though, having worked as a contractor for 20 years.

I can currently watch the politics going on and just laugh at it. If my bonus/career depended on it? Maybe not so much.

While most of us are spending more time on the golf course or similar than we would normally be doing while we try and find a permanent job to act as a lifeboat, it is perfectly possibly a minority have got some in demand skills that have clients fighting it out for them. Plus of course the phone never stops ringing when you are in contract.

I take these things on face value but if you don't then ignore them.

My client said to me last week I will need to be inside IR35 to continue working for them. I decided to use linkedin and let people know I'm looking for work on Monday as current client were dragging their feet on how much they will pay as rate uplift for being inside IR35.

I was fortunate enough to have 3 jobs offered in the last week and few more interviews lined for this week.Among the three 2 are perm and one is outside IR35.

I'm currently on £900/day but I know market is quite bad so was happy to take a rate cut as long as it's above £600 . 2 perms roles are similar pay except one is in public sector needing SC (consultancy with 350 people , grown from 5 in 2018) salary of £115,000 , second one is also a consultancy 2 years old with 150 people but more perks than the other. Also building cloud platforms focusing onAI on £115,000 .

Contract role is Outside IR35 needing SC for £650 6 months contract also a small consultancy , 2 years remaining on their contract with the public body. They don't have perms. With the state of the market and the uncertainty I'm torn between Contract Vs permanent and whether I should take a role which preserves SC or should I take the role which involves the buzzword AI. Any advice is appreciated

Multiple work offers would be a nice Dilemma to have right now.

Where are you based that there is all this work around? Or are these fully remote positions?

If you just see it as a job and treat it like one it's likely you'll be blowing your own outside determination.

From personal experience, it's hard to go from contract to perm; I tried it and was back contracting within 3 months.

My advice, for what it's worth, would be to take the role that you think will represent the best cultural fit.

You made the right call, as going from outside to inside overnight with the same client is not a smart move. I mean, when HMRC come knocking the would say - you were outside and now you are inside but doing the exact same job, so what makes the outside work you were doing outside? Pay up chum on all that back tax $$$ Even if they do offer you a generous uplift, its still NO.
