On the subject of so-called "alpha" males... Recently I have caught up on the lives of various "alphas" I have known in the past but not kept up with. They have come back onto my radar through other friends invariably because of various forms of life meltdown they are encountering in their mid-life period - wives committing suicide, drinking themselves to death, that sort of thing. And then I suddenly realized how massively insecure all of them are. Just great big bags of attention seeking ego with little grit or substance. As a quiet and highly intelligent person myself, I have always disliked being talked over by such people. I work with one now, and whilst he thinks most magnificently of himself and certainly enjoys the sound of his own voice, he is a narcissist, very insecure, completely disorganized and full of tulipe. Its quite refreshing really, to gain this perspective on things. These days I just smile and laugh and fail to register 90% of the crap that comes out of their mouths.

Then there is the location of the office written into the contract. If you live away from Blackpool or Manchester and you have to commute you cannot claim travel expenses, because you are tied to the location of your office not your home. Your meagre takings disappear quite fast.

This is the thing that gets overlooked in the Inside/Outside debate that unless an Inside contract is stupid money it restricts contractors geographically.

Advertised by multiple agencies on behalf of the DWP. Seen this advertised a few times in the past rather unsurprisingly. 300 inside with travel... Jesus

Works out at around 41k which is low end of the scale for this type of role without considering the contract element of it. It would be more attractive if it was FTC and I haven't had to say that before.

Then there is the location of the office written into the contract. If you live away from Blackpool or Manchester and you have to commute you cannot claim travel expenses, because you are tied to the location of your office not your home. Your meagre takings disappear quite fast.

I keep reading the same posts here, it is like people are stuck in a look. Probably what school conditioning and corporate culture does to you. It was supposed to be smart people, business contractors here, the creme de la creme.

The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing everyday and expecting a different result. £600pd is no longer a good rate inside ir35, barely covers expenses of servicing a contract. They want slaves not contractors. People should just give up and make the world a better place for the rest.

Sell everything, move to Thailand or Spain or whatever floats your boat, live frugally. Take a contract or do a side project because your are genuinely interested and love the scope of the project. Considering you would have low living costs you would be able to consider them now.
Make a life experience of it.

The UK will be dead, social unrest is certain, it can only go downhill from now. Get some balls and take action.

PS: If you barely can make the mortgage payments and you still have 20+ years on that thing, you do not own the house, the house owns you. You are just pretending to own a home for stupid social status games. Win stupid games earn stupid prizes, a life of slavery for yourself and your children.

Everyone is aware the market is dead and it will stay dead for the next 2-4 years at least, everything is going up. Government is importing 3rd worlders at the fastest pace ever to replace you.

If one thing I have learned over the last 12mths is to be grateful for what I have. I do still have a home, just, I have my health and there is food in the kitchen.

Many people do not have this.

Another point, freshies that come to the gym in lounge clothes or PJs, why? Also freshies who come to the spa facilities in Y-Fronts or boxer shorts.

Someone should tell them that these items are underwear and not leisure wear.
