So nearly six weeks later the agency called me and the client has asked if I am still available.

Was told it there was a hiring freeze which has now been lifted.

I am not counting my chickens but this is the most promising news I have had for a while....

I haven't spoken to a single manager in 10 months....

Banking contracts seem to have vanished.

£600 - £800 contracts were two a penny for a VP level developer a few years ago....

I am a Scala developer and the language has been mismanaged to the point that commercial users are walking away in droves....

My advice would be to go all in on Rust. It should stand you in good stead for contracts over the next few years....
