Busy day, arty farty thing this morning, folllowed by visit to small local art exhibition with ll2, then a wake party this afternoon. Didn't know bloke very well but seemed a nice guy and I admired his hippy look. I used to dress liike that once, got so boring now.

No work from home tax relief
I have a little business and always claimed the whole £6 a week heat and light . Seems you can't after April 20206. Absolute b******s.
Claim tax relief for your job expenses: Working from home - GOV.UK
Or can I when my business is based at home. Maybe?
You can...Last edited by xoggoth; 24 August 2026, 19:41.

Nice afternoon at local show, tea, cake and chat with people including the nice burlesque lady. Her rude poem was good, about stripping to classical music.

Close shave. Was waiting for loony lady1 at local National Trust place and NOT loony lady 3 came up to me. When ll1 came out of the bog I told her it was just someone I knew from my group walks. She don't like me seeing other ladies even though we are not a thing.

My walk this afternoon was scuppered by a road closure, alternative long route had big queque of traffic. Was going to do a nearer walk later and it started pouring down. Ended up just wandering round the village.

Mahjongy thing this morning (I came last - bah!) followed by visit to a neighbour to see her portrait on the wall. Nice quirky garden they've got, mine is too boring. Supposed to be 60% chance of rain this afternoon.

Group walk followed by pub then book club later. Can't really get into books anymore. Rain last night/this morning seemed to be enough to make a difference, puddles on the patio and stream passed during walk had a fair flow.

Hmm. Supposed to be up to 43% chance of rain this morning. No sign of it yet. Old arty farty thing later.

Day to meself, apart from walky, probably spend most of me time replacing fence at bottom of garden, awkward job as over a stream. Else been trying to calculate more accurate postage costs on checkout page on me little business website. When you rarely do any coding it gets much harder.

Saw that my old neighbour I do Scrabble with is on Google Street View. I am too, standing outside my house. Anyone else found themselves on it?
Woody walk with ll1 later.

Scary! Got this loud noise and took me a while to locate it. A government emergency warning of fire risk on me phone, not any normal mobile sound. Anyone else get one of these?

History group meet up later. Usually walk there but so bleedin' hot may use me little van.

Yeh, the eclipsey thing is real and that culander trick does work, I can see multiple partly hidden circles now.
WTF? BBC says the eclipse has reached it's peak across UK. No it hasn't! Got a way to go here, about 1/3 covered when I checked 15 mins ago.
Oh! I must have missed...Last edited by xoggoth; 12 August 2026, 18:37.

Oh yeh, Iv'e got an old welding shield but probably not worth risk. Eclipsey thing just about to start.
The things about using a bit of cardboard with a pin hole or a colander didn't make sense to me but gave it a try. Put a big piece of white wooden panel down bottom of garden and used...

Scrabble with old lady neighbour soon. Usually do my walky late these days to avoid the sun but have to do earlier today cos of this eclipsy thing. Have to find somewhere dark and woody.

Off to old farty arty thing soon. Karaoke this evening cancelled again due to hot weather. Another *** hot day, wish that looming solar eclipse was permanent. Been looking at online news, Gordon Bennet, the Daily Express is always 50% about that boring couple Harry and Meghan.

Mmm, got an invite from a youngish lady I knew a long while ago to join her at a local event. She's a burlesque artist.

Family do in sister's woods yesterday. Tripped and bashed me face on tree roots. Not looking my most attractive at moment. Loony lady 1 later.
