I haven't read tabloids for 20 years, don't follow the news, but out of curiosity had a look at this, and I gotta say, it's better than East Enders, it's the best soap opera out there at the moment

the story line is great, and on a daily basis you couldn't make it up, the script writers are first class

Not having a TV and not buying newspapers helps avoid - although sadly not totally - so-called 'royalty' and 'celebrity'.

I find it astonishing that people pay a 'licence' fee (really a subscription) to watch what these days passes for 'drama'.

Fortunately old episodes of "Play for Today' and other vintage drama are available on-line free of charge.

With everything going on in the world at the moment, my heart sinks whenever I visit a news site and so many column inches are given over to this pair.

I just wish they'd fade away gracefully and enjoy their lives together out of the public spotlight.
