I'm staying away for the first week at least - have to see how flexible they are about times. I'll probably stay away for the whole gig. It's two hours each way, meaning I'd be out of the house at 7 and getting back at 7 if I droveOriginally posted by voodooflux View PostDecided whether you're going to commute or stay away?
With a bit of luck I can negotiate my usual thing of starting at lunchtime on Monday, leaving at lunchtime on Friday, and working late in the week. There's no real incentive to leave work at 5:30 sharp when all that awaits is a Premier Inn
At least the hotel is only about one minute's walk from the office, and the small town/suburb seems to have a couple of good pubs - the guy I'll be reporting to has a pub mapping site with reviews, and declares his love of real ale on his profile page on the company web site, so they seem to have the right attitude

congratulations

I'm glad I held out for the extra money - unlike in the story of Oliver Twist it pays to demand more, apparently

Actually his site is pretty darned slow - too many markers on the map.
This is the problem I dealt with when doing the traffic camera stuff for the radio stations, and some of the research I did last week for using Y! GeoPlanet to group data by region takes that a step further; so I should be able to help him improve his site quite a bit
