      Afternoon denizens

      I've decided to play hard-to-get over the rate on this new gig - it's not worth doing if they won't pay more.

      Agent has already offered to cut his margin back to 15%. That would have given me an extra £36 a week after deductions - not much of a difference.

      He's currently trying to persuade the client that they'll have to pay more

      I hope I don't live to regret this...

            Yup... but this is a Monday start for 8 weeks guaranteed. Everything else is just vapour at the moment...

                Nope. Contacted the other agent - apparently she's sent three CVs over, but the client wants one more before starting their deliberations

                FFS, why don't they just hire me and be done with it?

                      ...and we got there - well, we got somewhere.

                      He's a very good agent - completely open about his margin, and even shaved it to get me a few quid more.

                      He explained that he used to work at Computer Futures where he was absolutely forbidden to discuss margins - he thought that was wrong, and swore that in future he'd only work for agencies where he could be up front about it

                      So, I am off the bench as of 10am Monday
