    A box and whisker graph seems to illustrate how symmetrical or skewed your data set is.

    It looks a bit like a resistor on a circuit diagram, with the body (the box) divided into two, plus two leads (the whiskers), all drawn to illustrate the relative sizes of the four quartiles. I'm now at the very limits of my knowledge, but I know how to draw them.

    By the way, I mean the new-fangled resistor diagrams, not the good old zigzags.
