I was going to make a wholemeal loaf this evening but I forgot to put it on when I finished work, so I used the “quick” programme that only takes three hours instead of five. It’s turned out not very tall, so I reckon it’ll probably also turn out to be quite dense. Oh well, I’ll just have to have dense toast for a while
Tonight I read more of Endurance, in which said vessel has finally succumbed to the ice. After letting a floe carry them roughly in the direction they wanted to go for a couple of months or so, they’ve set out west, hoping to get somewhere they have a chance of launching the boats and heading for the Antarctic Peninsula. But they’ve ended up blocked by huge pressure ridges, and the floe they’re on is starting to break up
Slept very badly last night; more accurately, couldn’t really sleep at all for several hours before finally dropping off. As a result, I went straight back to sleep after the first alarm and it seems I’d turned off subsequent alarms, so I've arisen quite late for a work day and still feel quite tired
Anyway, it’s a grey day and there already seems to have been some rain. More of the same is expected later, and the wind continues to gust. Very mild for January though: 7°C now (though it “feels like” 3°) with an expected high of 7°. The barometers are back up a touch at 990/998mB
Morning all
Let Max out in the garden as usual just before our walk, and it was 9C, overcast with a bit of dampness in the air. By the time I had put my light jacket and walking boots on and stepped out the door, this had changed to rain.
It rained the whole walk, and since I hadn't put on waterproof trousers, my bottom half was soaking. No such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes.
In other news, Octopus/Zappi/Skoda started to talk to each other last night and for the princely sum of 56p, I got 8kWh of charge in just over an hour. This time of year that's about 20 miles. Car is currently 80% charged and might do 10 miles in total this week (I need to go to a DIY store to get a new radiator bleed key since my 30 year old one broke at the weekend)
